Prostate Checks

If you have any concerns about changes to your prostate gland, you can make an appointment to see your doctor. The doctor will discuss your concerns and any symptoms you may have. He/she may carry out a physical examination and a blood test, where appropriate. You can read more about Prostate Antigen Specific (PSA) testing here. (ICGP fact sheet).

The majority of men who experience symptoms associated with the prostate gland do not develop prostate cancer, however, regular prostate checks are an important screening method.

You can find out more information here on the Irish Cancer Society’s website about prostate cancer, symptoms, screening, treatment and how to reduce your risks of developing prostate cancer.
