The Scheme includes between six and seven routine scheduled antenatal visits during your pregnancy, a two-week check for your baby and a six-week check for you and your baby. Visits relating to pregnancy complications and issues are covered, but visits for issues which are not related to pregnancy (such as flu, headache, injuries, chest infection, sore throat etc.) will incur usual practice fees.
When you register for the Maternity and Infant Care Scheme with the practice, we will give you a leaflet outlining the full details of the Scheme, including a schedule of the visits you will be due to have during your pregnancy.
When booking an antenatal appointment we ask you to tell the Reception staff that it is for Antenatal care so that the visit can be included in the schedule of assessments provided free under the Scheme.
