Patients can book in for a blood test on the recommendation of the Doctor. Your GP may decide that a blood test is necessary to help in making a diagnosis or as part of a review or update regarding an existing condition. Blood tests are carried out by the Practice Nurse, or in her absence, one of the Doctors. At Sirona Medical, blood tests are carried out in the morning surgery only. When your blood test has been completed, it is sent to the laboratory for processing. The results are available approximately between 5 and 7 days later. You should contact the surgery one week after your test to check if the results have been received. At this stage, the Doctor will review the results and you will be advised of the outcome or you may be asked to attend for an appointment to discuss the test results as needed.
