Covid-19 Spring 2025 Booster Vaccines
Booster doses of Covid-19 vaccine are now available to certain groups of patients, as per HSE criteria. These vaccines are recommended to increase your immunity to Covid-19 infection and reduce the risk of serious disease and hospitalisations, particularly in key, vulnerable groups.
It is now recommended that Covid-19 booster vaccinations be given in spring and autumn for certain groups who are most at risk of severe illness. The spring booster programme runs from 3 April 2025 to the end of May 2025.
You are eligible for a spring booster if you are aged:
- 80 years or older.
- 70 to 79 and did not get a COVID-19 vaccine since 30th of June 2024.
- 6 months or older with a weak immune system.
If you are eligible for a spring booster vaccine, you should wait at least 3 months since your last COVID-19 vaccination or COVID-19 infection before getting it. Please ensure you read the details here and only book an appointment for vaccine if you are eligible to receive. We cannot give the Covid Booster to anyone who does not meet the HSE criteria.
If you have any questions about getting a COVID-19 booster vaccine, please read the information below, speak to the GP or Practice Nurse or call HSELive on 1800 700 700.
Covid Vaccination in Pregnancy
If you have not had any COVID-19 vaccines, you can get your first round of COVID-19 vaccination at any stage of your pregnancy. This is a single dose, unless you have a weak immune system. One COVID-19 booster vaccine is recommended in each pregnancy, regardless of the time of the year.
The ideal time to get your booster dose is between 20 and 34 weeks, but you can get it at any stage of pregnancy. Wait 6 months after your last COVID-19 vaccine or infection before getting a booster. If it has been more than 12 months since you had a COVID-19 vaccine or infection, you may be offered a booster dose earlier in your pregnancy.
Residential care or home vaccination
HSE vaccination teams will give the vaccine in residential care facilities including nursing homes, and to people who are not able to leave their home.
